12-Year-Old Mexican Boy Attempts to Block Thousands of Anti-LGBTQ Protesters

Sometimes, the world needs a little burst of courage – and over the weekend, it came in the form of a 12-year-old boy.

Last weekend, thousands rallied in protest of Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto’s plan to legalize same-sex marriage across the country. Conservative families populated the streets of Celaya, Guanajuato to object both the proposal, as well as protest same-sex adoption rights.

Amongst the sea of motivated protesters, a 12-year-old boy appeared, with his arms spread wide, standing opposite the aggressive crowd, taking a stand against 11,000 anti-LGBTQ protesters, and his message is loud and clear.

Journalist Manuel Rodriguez, caught the child’s fearless moment in a photo that quickly went viral across the internet.

This simple act of heroism expressed the much needed humanity during the appalling protests. Rodríguez, who interviewed the boy afterwards, discovered the motivation behind the act. “I have an uncle who is gay, and I don’t like people hating him.

We stand with you, kid. Watch the protest below.
