1. BLOOR BIKE LANES

Good news for cyclists. The Public Works Committee approved bike lanes on Bloor. The pilot project will now go to council for a vote. If approved lanes will run on Bloor from Shaw to Avenue this summer.


 

2. GHOMESHI APPEAL

The Crown will not appeal the Jian Ghomeshi acquittals. They say there is no legal basis to appeal the judge’s decision. According to Vice, new allegations were made against the former CBC host on the weekend. Ghomeshi will be back in court in June.


 

3. HONEST EDS SIGN STOLEN

A thousand dollar reward has been offered for a stolen Honest Eds sign. The seven foot tall sign was taken from outside the store. Honest Eds’ signs are a hot commodity since the bargain store is closing at the end of the year. Honest Ed’s has been open since 1948.


 

4. UBER LEAVING TORONTO

How upset would you be if Uber left Toronto? It could happen…Uber is threatening to leave the city if the new transport regulations are passed next month. The move would put 15,000 drivers out of work. Uber sent a letter to the city stating their intentions.


 

5. CANADIAN HOSTAGE KILLED

A Canadian was beheaded in the Philippines yesterday. Militants threatened to kill the hostage if an eight million dollar ransom was not paid by the government. 68 year old John Ridsdel is being remembered as brilliant and compassionate.
