Listen: Ben Gibbard Covers Teenage Fanclub’s ‘The Concept’

First of entire cover album of 'Bandwagonesque'

The good people at Turntable Kitchen have been enlisting musicians to cover full-length album as part of their Sounds Delicious series. Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard is the latest artist to be part of the project, planning on releasing a full cover album of Teenage Fanclub’s Bandwagonesque.

Today, the beloved singer-songwriter shared the first taste of what’s to come, covering Teenage Fanclub’s “The Concept”, staying pretty true to the original only stretching it out a little.

He said in a press release:

“Turntable Kitchen approached me last summer about being part of their Sounds Delicious Vinyl series and I was excited about the idea of covering an album in its entirety. Bandwagonesque is my favorite record by my favorite band of all time. It came along at a pivotal time in my musical life and I’ve loved it for over 25 years. It’s been such a blast taking these songs apart to see how they work and then putting them back together again.”
