Best Couples’ Getaways Near Toronto

Sit back and relax at one of these close-to-home destinations

Paris and Rome aren’t the only romantic places on the planet. If you’re looking for a couples’ getaway that’s a little closer to home, Southern Ontario has world-class spas, wineries, quaint towns and cities, and endless wilderness — and they’re all within driving distance of Toronto.

Blue Mountain

Blue Mountain is a worthy couples’ destination whether there’s snow on the ground or not. The resort might be best known for skiing and snowboarding, but couples seeking adventure in the summer can also take mountain bikes down the slopes. To add a little romance, and soothe your muscles after a long day on the mountain, check out the Scandinave Spa, an award-winning outdoor spa nestled in the forest, just a few-minute drive from the village.

Prince Edward County

The once sleepy farm towns of Prince Edward County are now a trendy tourist destination, and the perfect place to escape for a few days with your significant other. With a provincial park that’s home to some of the province’s most incredible beaches, more than 30 wineries, unbeatable antiquing, and quaint B&Bs, you’ll be anything but bored.

Ontario Parks

There might be no better way to get to know someone (we mean really get to know someone) than to head into the great outdoors with them. Whether you want to portage five kilometres into a back country site or get cozy in a fully equipped yurt, Ontario’s park system has it all, and it doesn’t take long to get to some of the province’s 72 parks. Sandbanks, Presqu’ile, Awenda, Arrowhead, and Algonquin are all just a few-hour drive from Toronto.

Stratford, Ontario

Stratford might be best known for its theatre productions, but that’s not all this lively little city has to offer. It’s also home to historic inns, a scenic river you can picnic beside, and a ton of culture. There’s the Stratford Summer Music Festival, an annual event that features everything from classical to jazz, and a worthwhile culinary scene that’s fuelled by the rich agricultural community that surrounds the city.

Ste. Anne’s Spa

This one’s a no-brainer. There may be no better way to connect with your significant other than by heading to a spa, where you’re sure to leave daily stressors at the door. Just a little more than an hour’s drive from Toronto, this casual and rustic spa is the perfect place to let your hair down, slip on a comfortable robe, and engage in wellness classes, treatments, and massages that will not only help you and your partner relax, but also heighten both of your senses.
