Best New Indie: 7 Songs You Should Hear This Week

Some notable releases are coming out this week including Canadian rock staple Sam Roberts Band with Terra Form, Tove Lo with Lady Wood, Empire of the Sun dropping Two Vines, and Strokes guitarist Nick Valenci’s new project CRX debuts New Skin. The biggest release this past week was Canadian music luminary Gord Downie, who shared the entirety of his Secret Path project online for free.

The Shins – “Dead Alive”

James Mercer’s long-running seminal indie band marked their return with this Halloween-themed new single “Dead Alive”. A new album is expected from The Shins early 2017.

 

John K Samson – “Postdoc Blues”

Hailed as one of the greatest Canadian songwriters, The Weakerthans’ John K Samson fulfills expectations on his solo LP Winter Wheat.
