Drawing a close in the warmer months, more and more artists have emerged from time spent in musical hibernation.

Today marked the return of The Shins, who released their fifth studio record Heartworms, and Tennis, who released Yours Unconditionally. This week ended six years of silence from the seminal indie-folk group Fleet Foxes, and Alt-J’s first new song since 2014’s This Is All Yours.

Alt J – “3ww”

The follow up to Alt-J’s 2014 This Is All Yours has a confirmed release date. The band’s new album, Relaxer, will drop June 9 via Canvasback Music and will be Alt-J’s third LP.

 

Fleet Foxes – “Third of May / Ōdaigahara”

Fleet Foxes announced their six-year hiatus is over, sharing plans for their third studio album, Crack-Up, coming June 16th. The Band shared a taste of what’s to come on the full record: a 9-minute long song, titled “Third of May / Ōdaigahara”..

 

Real Estate – “Stained Glass”

The band shared the second track from the upcoming In Mind record due out March 17th, following up “Darling” that was released February.
 

PWR BTTM – “Answer My Text”

Punk duo PWR BTTM perfectly encapsulate modern day dating in their most recent single, “Answer My Text.” The band’s upcoming record, Pageant, is due out May 12.
 

Benjamin Booker – “Witness”

New Orleans artist Benjamin Booker shared the title track from his upcoming album Witness, featuring Mavis Staples. “Witness” is a mixture of blues, rock ‘n’ roll and gospel. Stay tuned for more coming June 2nd.
 

TOPS – “Petals”

Two years after the success of the band’s sophomore album Picture You Staring, Montreal’s TOPS picked up everything and moved to Los Angeles to record their next studio effort, Sugar at the Gate. They’ve now shared the first taste of what’s to come with “Petals.”
 

Passion Pit – “For Sondra”

Michael Angelakos continues to drop new music under Passion Pit for his new Artist Support Services company The Wishart Group. His latest is “For Sondra,” which for the first half delves into an instrumental soundscape before evolving into a short melancholic song about family.
 

Father John Misty – “Total Entertainment Forever”

Father John Misty performed on Saturday Night Live last weekend, wjere he unveiled the latest song from his upcoming album Pure Comedy, titled “Total Entertainment Forever.”
 

Young Galaxy – “Stay For Real”

Montreal dream pop band Young Galaxy shared a new track called “Stay For Real” this week. Since teaming up with a company called Plus1, the band will be donating all net proceeds from the song to “defending the rights of the marginalized through PIVOT (Canada), ACLU (USA), and W.A.V.E (EU).”
 

Ty Segall – “Black Magick”

Ty Segall shared a catchy new ballad “Black Magick” from his upcoming Sentimental Goblin EP coming next week.
 

Do Make Say Think – “Bound and Boundless”

Do Make Say Think are returning after eight long years with Stubborn Persistent Illusions, their first new record since 2009, this summer. They previewed what’s to come with “Bound and Boundless.”
