Bike Lanes in Toronto to Soon Run East-West

Toronto’s cyclist community may be getting a much-needed upgrade

The city staff is responding to countless requests for an extension of the Richmond-Adelaide bike lane to Parliament Street. This upgrade would allow cyclists to travel from one side of the city to the other in protected lanes — something cyclists desperately require.

The east-west connection would run from last year’s installation of cycle tracks on Richmond and Adelaide, and would connect on the east to Sherbourne’s cycle track.

The Morning After talked to Jared Kolb from Cycle Toronto about extending bike lanes east. He also offered tips for good cycling.

If you’ve ever cycled through the Financial District during rush hour, you know how necessary this bike lane update is. Bike lanes on Peter St. between King and Queen are also set to be inputed before the end of 2015.
