PSA: Netflix is rumoured to be tearing a page right out of YouTube’s book – adding pre-and post-viewing advertisements to their streams. They are currently testing some ads in smaller markets, considering the possibility to expand it across their users.
Never fear though, it’s not all bad: The ads will present only Netflix original content, which is basically what HBO and some similar streaming services already do.
A Netflix spokesperson told Motherboard that no third party advertisements will show, only trailers for House of Cards, Orange is the New Black and the like. “As with any Netflix product test, this may never come to all our members,” she added. So, for now, you can binge watch Friends, advertisement free.
