Brand New Confirms Impending Breakup on New Merch

We knew it was coming. But that doesn’t make it any easier.

Brand New fans are all too familiar with the elusive alt rock band from Long Island. Even with the news of another album and tour – and better yet, rumours of it sounding like Deja – I tried to keep my expectations at bay.

Last month Brand New came out of the shadows with a – brand new – single called “I Am A Nightmare“. It is the third piece of new material we’ve heard from the upcoming album following “Mene” and “Sealed to Me“.

As it goes with the emotional roller coaster that is Brand New, with good news comes bad news. Back in October, Jesse Lacey told a Nashville audience that the Brand New chapter is coming to a close:

“I’m gonna tell you right here and now this isn’t going to last much longer. But it’s been so special for so long, and for as long as it does last we’re so grateful to all you for being here.”

Well, new merch has confirmed that the band has officially put an end date on Brand New: 2018.

I can’t help but get nostalgic. In exactly one week I will be sitting in this chair, thinking about how I just saw the last Brand New show I’ll probably ever see. In a big way, this is a chapter of my life closing too.

To all the Brand New fans:

We’re gonna stay eighteen forever
So we can stay like this forever
And we’ll never miss a party
cause we keep them going constantly
And we’ll never have to listen
to anyone about anything
cause it’s all been done and it’s all been said
we’re the coolest kids and we take what we can get
