In a surprising twist by the technology giant, Apple has just released a new battery accessory case for the iPhone 6 and 6s (Plus model or original).
The new bendable case retains certain qualities that their existing cases have, only with an added pouch on the back for boosting battery. While the company won’t disclose exactly how much battery storage the device can hold, they claim that it can boost “internet use up to 18 hours on LTE, and video playback up to 20 hours.”
This is far from new technology, as companyies like Mophie have been dominating the battery extending industry for years. Though Apple’s price is comparable, being $129 to a range between $90 and $150 for higher end third party cases, it’s doubtful that it holds more power than it’s competitors.
Normally Apple unveils products at their yearly WWDC, but the release of the new battery-boosting product is the obvious choice for two reasons: an ommision that the 6 and 6s models have crappy battery life, and a last-minute cash grab before the holidays. Both cases are an usual move by the normally stoic tech company.
