Actor-turned-singer, Corey Feldman, has made a notable career change that has turned him into a trending topic over the past weekend, but the buzz isn’t exactly favourable.
Feldman is best known as the 1980s teen heartthrob, who starred in classics like Stand By Me, The Lost Boys, and The Goonies. But over the years, he has put his acting aside (not counting his Katy Perry music video cameo), is trying his hand at music – more specifically, pop music.
His latest endeavor brought him to the Today Show, where he performed “Go 4 It”, alongside his band, Corey’s Angels (young women in angel costumes). He claims he recruited the angels “to help girls who are kind of lost and needing to find their way.”
Billy Bush introduced Feldman, who took over the stage, dressed in a Grim Reaper–inspired ensemble, comparable to that of dark-side status.
The child-star explained of his frightful aesthetic, “The whole theme of the album is good versus evil, heaven versus hell, that sort of thing.” You know? That sort of thing.
The Friday performance instantly received a ton of backlash, mostly coming from Twitter, bashing the child-star for his bizarre antics, making him a trending topic over the weekend. In a deleted Facebook Live post, Feldman and one of his Angels, Courtney Anne, addressed their critics,
“We just wanted to tell everybody that, like, it’s been really painful. We put ourselves out there and we did the best that we could. And, like, I’ve never had such mean things said about me. Like constantly.”
