Death Cab For Cutie Apologizes for NSFW Facebook Hack

The band had a "sexy surprise" on their Facebook this weekend

Death Cab for Cutie was in a bit of hot water last night after a hacker logged onto the band’s Facebook.

The hacker posted a series of NSFW links, mostly articles depicting various sexual positions. Though the links were taken down shortly after, it’s fair to say that many fans were taken aback. Gibbard and co. were quick to post a statement to the band’s account explaining the situation and apologizing for it.

Take a look at the posts below:

DCfC's Facebook was hacked this evening and explicit content was posted to the page. The account is now secure and fans will not be subjected to these kind of posts in the future. Our sincere apologies.

The best thing to come out of this whole thing? It sparked what may be the greatest hashtag of all time, #deathcabforbooty.

Great job, internet.
