Husband and wife duo Ninja and Yolandi Visser of Die Antwoord are accusing Suicide Squad director David Ayer for stealing the band’s image, after noticing a likeness in some of the film’s primary characters’ costumes.
Yolandi Visser recently posted a video on her Instagram comparing the visual appearance of Jared Leto’s Joker and Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn to Die Antwoord’s appearance. The video features Craig Mack’s “Jockin My Style”, starting off with the definition of “Jockin” saying that it means “to copy the likeness and/ or follow intently.”
In Visser’s stylistically grammatically incorrect post, she claims Cara Delevingne and Jared Leto told Die Antwoord that Ayer used their band as a direct source of visual inspiration for Harley and the Joker. Visser claims the band was never approached by Ayer for permission. According to the post, Ninja emailed Ayer but got no response.
