13 Fall Album Releases To Get Excited About

Bon Iver, Pixies, Haim and more!

Gorgeous colours from the trees, pumpkin spiced drinks and chilly, sweater weather are some of our favourite things about Autumn. But the most important thing we look forward to during this special time of the year is the plethora of new music released—to keep our ears content as the Winter weather begins to creep in. Talks of new releases from Haim, Lorde, Beck and more are in store for this season and we couldn’t be more excited. Here’s what we know so far for some upcoming releases we’re looking forward to.

Bon Iver – 22, A Million |
Release: September 30, 2016

22, A Million is the highly anticipated follow up to Justin Vernon’s 2011 Bon Iver (an album recorded entirely in seclusion). It’s revealed that the album is dedicated to singer/songwriter Richard Buckner and Bernice Johnson Reagon, founder of Sweet Honey in the Rock.

Pixies – Head Carrier |
Release: September 30, 2016

With new bass player Paz Lenchantin replacing Kim Deal, it’s a pretty BIG deal. Much so, that the Pixies made a song about it entitled: “All I Think About Now” for their upcoming full length. It’s their first LP since 1991’s influential Trompe Le Monde and the follow up to 2014’s triple EP Indie Cindy.

Two Door Cinema Club – Game Show |
Release: October 14, 2016

These Irish indie-rockers return with their third studio album Gameshow and in a recent interview they reveal their biggest influences for the album: Prince and Bowie. Two Door Cinema Club revealed that the band took a big break to avoid a ‘catastrophic end’ before the release of their album.

Beck – [Title TBA] |
Release: October 21, 2016

In June, Beck took to Instagram to tease his latest track “Wow” for his upcoming autumn release. This will be the most recent album since the Grammy award-winning album Morning Phase. Who knows? Maybe Kanye West will also upstage the next Beck album at the Grammy’s.

Haim – [Title TBA] |
Release date: TBA

Haim cancelled the leg of their European tour to work on this new full length—the first in three years since their debut album Days Are Gone. Over 12 songs have been written for the upcoming LP including one entitled: “Nothing’s Wrong” a track with a much appreciated vintage 70’s rock vibe. The title and release date are still TBA.

Lorde – [Title TBA] |
Release date: TBA

It’s been three years since the New Zealand singer released her smash-hit album Pure Heroine, and as far as we know the only person we know she’s shared the title with is her mother. We’re excited to hear what’s in store for this year’s banger.

Tove Lo – Lady Wood |
Release date: October 28, 2016

The Swedish singer will release her sophomore album Lady Wood by the end of October. Her first single off of the record, “Cool Girl” was inspired by the film “Gone Girl”, as described by the singer in a recent interview with Rolling Stone.

Kanye West & Drake | [Title TBA]
Release date: TBA

Rumours that a Yeezy-Drizzy album have been circulating for quite some time now ever since West hinted at a collab at Toronto leg of the Saint Pablo Tour, and just recently Yeezy himself officially confirmed the rumours in an interview. As for the album name and release date, we’re still in the dark but we are definitely excited for what’s in store.

Banks – The Altar |
Release date: September 30, 2016

It’s been almost a year since Banks shared the music video for “Better” off of her sophomore album. Since then the singer shared “Fuck With Myself” which debuted on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show. The album is set to release by the end of September.

Childish Gambino – ??? |
Release date: TBA

No official word on when it’s coming, but the hope is we will hear new music this year, the first since the 2014 EP entitled STN MTN / Kauai. A teaser was performed in Joshua Tree, California to fans— where phones were banned to prevent album leaks. As for the album, the lucky fans that did get an exclusive first listen, gave the new material some much-deserved praise.

Kings of Leon – Walls |
Release date: October 14, 2016

Walls marks the 7th studio album of alt-rockers Kings of Leon and the lead single “Waste A Moment” urges listeners to step away from the monotony of their daily lives. Out October 14th.

Warpaint – Heads Up |
Release date: September 23, 2016

The follow up to Warpaint’s 2014 self-titled album is out September 23 via Rough Trade Records and we couldn’t be more excited. The band has since been absent with the members toiling away at their own solo projects. The most recent and appropriately titled track, “New Song” was released this August and has garnered much anticipation for the band’s third full length.

Against Me! – Shape Shift With Me |
Release date: September 16, 2016

Shape Shift With Me is the highly anticipated follow up to Against Me!’s 2014 LP Transgender Dysphoria Blues and 2015’s live album: 23 Live Sex Acts. Check out their first single “333” off the new record below
