1. Live Music

Indie Fridays is a free summer concert series taking place every Friday in July and August. The first instalment of the series features Five Alarm Funk, with special guests Turbo Street Funk. Head down to Yonge and Dundas square this Friday, July 9th at 8pm for free music.  Ed Sheeran makes a Toronto stop in his North American Arena Tour this weekend. He will be playing two shows at the Air Canada Centre this Friday, July 8th and Saturday, July 9th. Tickets are still available online. The Moody Blues celebrate the 50th anniversary of their album, DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED, at the Sony Centre this Friday, July 9th. Get your tickets here. Music in the Park at Kew Gardens is a summer-long concert series hosted by the Beach Village BIA that features a diverse lineup of live music. This weekend folk artist AHI kicks off the series of free shows in Kew Gardens at 2pm.

 

2. TD Salsa on St. Clair Street Festival

Learn to salsa this weekend at the TD Salsa on St. Clair Street Festival. As one of the most prominent Canadian celebrations of Latin culture, this multi-week event features live entertainment, food and drink vendors, as well as free salsa lessons and dancing in the street. Now in its 13th year, the annual event has grown from a weekend festival to a 3 week event, running from July 3 – 23, and taking place in various locations in Toronto. 3. Toronto Fringe Festival

The Toronto Fringe Festival is a self-described “charitable organization,” aiming to empower the community by creating a space for unleashing self-expression, promoting creativity, and “connecting artists with audiences.” This year’s festival includes over 160 events at local venues, many of them free, including stand up comedy, contests, shows, and workshops running from July 5 – 16. 4. The Taste of Lawrence

This weekend the Wexford Heights community will host The Taste of Lawrence, a celebration of cultural diversity through food. 5. Movies in the Park
