The anticipation for a new album from Frank Ocean has built up over the past few months, since he missed the expected Boys Don’t Cry release back in July. Ocean has been highlighted on numerous ‘Most Anticipated’ album lists since the success of his 2012 album, Channel ORANGE.
The last we heard of new Frank Ocean music was when he was featured at the end of Kanye’s track, “Wolves”.
Recently in an interview with Pitchfork, Frank Ocean producer Malay hinted that the release of Boys Don’t Cry could be coming soon:
“I always tell people: When he’s ready, the world is gonna get it. It could be tomorrow; well not tomorrow but maybe a month.”
The Grammy award-winning producer, Malay, worked on the majority of Frank Ocean’s Channel ORANGE and has since worked with artists such as Jarryd James and The Temper Trap.
“[Frank’s] been working super hard. I feel like he’s working harder than he’s ever worked in his life … I think people are going to be pleasantly surprised, for sure,” says Malay.
Back in February, Ocean was rumoured to have hosted a listening party in New York City, so we’re hoping details on his album will drop soon. And if not details, some music? After all, Malay said it *could* happen in a month?
Until then, we wait.
