Free This Friday: NXNE Presents Born Ruffians, Hollerado at Yonge-Dundas Square

North by Northeast is showcasing some great Canadian indie bands to kick off your weekend

Head down to Yonge-Dundas Square this Friday evening for a set of free concerts, including indie rock favourites Born Ruffians and Hollerado. Also on the lineup for Friday are Doldrums and The Holy Gasp.

If that’s not enough for you, check out some of the new additions to the NXNE shows happening around the city all this week: hip-hop duo Blizzarh and rapper Harrison will be opening for hair-whippin’ Willow Smith June 18th at the Danforth Music Hall, catch The Sadies and Sun K at the Horseshoe Tavern June 21st, and psych group TEEN has been added to Red Bull Sound Select at Adelaide Hall June 18th.

On top of the Indie88 Sessions powered by Samsung, the NXNE Hub at 170 Spadina will be home to a free panel called A Soundtrack of Violence on June 21st — exploring the intersection of misogyny in arts and culture, and how artists and industry can move forward to effect change.
