The phrase ‘watching a movie’ will soon be irrelevant.
Today Cineplex announced their partnership with CJ 4DPLEX, the world’s first 4DX cinema company, and they plan to take Toronto’s movie-going experience to the next level. With the help of 4D technology, motion seats, and environmental effects like wind, snow, bubbles, and scent, 4DX is a fully immersive movie experience.
Cineplex plans to roll out Canada’s first 4DX auditorium at their Yonge-Dundas location. Ticket prices are undecided but are expected to be upwards of $24.

“Each 4DX auditorium incorporates motion-based seating synchronized with over 20 different effects and optimized by a team of skilled editors, maximizing the feeling of immersion within the movie,” said Byung Hwan Choi, CEO of CJ 4DPLEX. “Audiences across Asia, Europe and the United States have loved the 4DX experience and we are proud to be working with Cineplex Entertainment to continue our international expansion and into Canada for the first time.”
