How Animation Worked in the 1930’s

Quite the labour intensive process

It’s no surprise that with today’s computer software, animators are able to compose more and more complex computer-generated animations for film and television.

Flashback to the early days of animation, when artists had to do quite literally everything by hand. For twenty-four frames per second, for videos that last several minutes, hundreds of animators would have to draw each character and their environments by hand. This old promotional video from Paramount surfaced, showing the entire animation process. It really makes you appreciate modern day technology!
