Indie88 Video Premiere: Language Arts share “Fight or Flight”

Another tasty tune from Toronto natives Language Arts

Toronto natives Language Arts have just shared a brand new single called “Fight or Flight” with an accompanying music video.

Led by singer Kristen Cudmore with an impressive band composed of Neil MacIntosh, Joel Visentin and Søren Nissen, Language Arts is one Toronto band that we’ve kept our eyes since the release of their previous LP Wonderkind. Their recent release of “Neighbor”, with inquisitive vocals and buzzing synth took a massive lead in our last issue of Under The Radar.

Their latest track stems from the same curious nature, which bobs along a mellowed out garage-pop ditty. As Cudmore’s lyrics question self-assurances and interpersonal distress, the band casts themselves in a less care-free light. “Am I the Ghost radiating in the night?” she asks, or “Am I the choice where you say that you might?” Language Arts stays true to their name shows that they are a band deep-rooted in intellect.

The video was made using no editing “tricks”. Performed sped up and backwards, then synced perfectly with the song length in the editing process, it’s a simple but well-thought out idea.

Check out the video in the player above. If you like what you hear, Language Arts go on tour this fall and will be back in Toronto December 3rd. See the concert listings below.
