Instagram Ends the Era of the Square Photo

No need to crop off the sides off your quinoa salad photo

Put away those cropping tools because Instagram no longer discriminates against landscape or portrait photos.

After an app update went out a few nights ago, the beloved photo sharing app nonchalantly added a new feature that many users have been begging for years now. Instead of cropping out photos to fit in the constricting square size, Instagram now lets you click a button which will fit your image of any aspect ratio into frame. The update also added a feature which alows users to make and customize collages right in the app.

According to Fast Company, nearly 20% of the app’s users add white borders to the top and bottoms or sides to images in order to fit them into frame, which now users don’t have to do.

Happy snapping!
