#JulyTalkVotes: July Talk will personally call you if you vote this election

The band really wants you to vote

Peter Dreimanis and Leah Fay of July Talk really want you to vote in this election. They want you to vote so badly, that they’re returning the favour with a thank you phone call.

The band posted to Instagram and Facebook this weekend, asking fans to take a selfie outside of a polling station, and email the photo with your phone number to the band.

Their goal is to encourage a younger crowd to vote in the election, so these phone calls are only for people between the ages of 18 and 24.

“Over the past three or four years we’ve been able to perform for that exact age group. We go across Canada and play at different frosh weeks and schools and we thought wouldn’t it be amazing if they all went out and voted”

“A lot of people within this age group don’t really feel like they have a place within the voting process. They kind of feel like not everyone wants them to vote,” said Dreimanis. But voting, he added, ‘is such a feeling of control'”

The band has received over 100 emails so far from just one day of advance polls, which is an incredible response.

In case you’re wondering how they will get around to responding to each person, they’ll be making the calls beginning October 18 as they embark on their fall tour.
