This morning (December 7th) the 2015 Grammy Awards nominations were announced, and all we can say is it must be a great day to be Kendrick Lamar. Beating out Taylor Swift and The Weeknd’s 7 nominations, Lamar can be proud of 11 nominations across 9 categories for his work on To Pimp a Butterfly.

Indie-rock fans can also rest easy knowing that respect has been paid to some worthy artists. Courtney Barnett is nominated for ‘Best New Artist’, blues-rock outfit Alabama Shakes grabbed 4 nominations, as well as nominations for My Morning Jacket, Tame Impala and Wilco under the ‘Best Alternative Album’ category. Even our man J. Tillman aka Father John Misty nabbed a nomination for ‘Best Boxed Or Special Limited Edition Package’.
