Kendrick Lamar Will Be Stephen Colbert’s first ‘Late Show’ Musical Guest

The Compton rapper will christen the Late Show stage

Kendrick Lamar will be Stephen Colbert’s first musical guest on his new spot as the host of the new Late Show. Colbert was passed the torch from talk-show host veteran David Letterman in the revamping of the 22-year old running show.

The guest announcement was made on Monday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour. Fittingly Kendrick Lamar was also Colbert’s last musical guest on The Colbert Report.

Though there was rumor that Pavement would be reuniting for the first show, percussionist Bob Nastanovich has denied the claim.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert airs on CBS from New York’s Ed Sullivan Theater on Sept. 8.
