Listen: Junior Boys share “Big Black Coat”

Hamilton Duo return with new album after five year hiatus

It’s been five years since Jeremy Greenspan and Matt Didemus of Junior Boys have released any new content, but today they have broken that silence.

Following 2011’s It’s All True, the Hamilton duo went on hiatus, branching out to work with new and uprising artists. Greenspan has since worked with Dan Snaith of Caribou/Daphni and fellow Hamiltonian Jessy Lanza, who will be accompanying the band on their upcoming tour.

It was working with new artists such as Lanza that reinvigorated Greenspan’s interest in the Junior Boys project. “I could stop thinking about Junior Boys as being the thing I do and start thinking about it as a thing I do,” he says.

Coming back to the table five years later, the due were able to come at producing new music under a new light, hence the announcement of an upcoming LP Big Black Coat. Along with the announcement comes the first single, eponymously named “Big Black Coat”: a disco meets industrial electronic sounding tune. Check out the single in the player above.

Big Black Coat is slated for release February 5th via Geez Recordings in Canada and City Slang worldwide.
