After teasing fans all of last week with an online scavenger hunt, Newmarket homies Tokyo Police Club are back with a brand new track, “Not My Girl.”
The new release comes with the announcement of a two part EP, Melon Collie and the Infinite Radness, the first of which is set for an April release. According to a press release, the follow up to 2014’s Forcefield will be the “tightest, brightest, and certainly raddest batch of songs to date.”
Drummer Greg Alsop spoke on the new collection of songs:
“We knew we didn’t want to work like we did on Forcefield, which was two-and-a-half years solidly writing and rehearsing while holed up in a studio in Toronto, And we all live in different places now, so a week in New York was our first attempt at experimenting with what happens if we all fly in to be in the same place and decide to work on music together.”
Considering this release coincides with the 10 year anniversary of the band’s A Lesson in Crime EP, the new track is definelty an hommage to their brighter, post-punk-pop days. Check out the rad track below, and get ready for the rest of the EP April 8th via Dine Alone Records,.
