Watch: Metallica Play “Enter Sandman” with Classroom Instruments on The Tonight Show

Sounds completely normal

If you’ve ever listened to a Metallica song, you’d probably know that they aren’t exactly “classroom material”. But in typical Jimmy Fallon fashion, the American metal band stopped by the Tonight Show for a special rendition of their best known song.

Backed up by legendary house band the Roots and Fallon himself, James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo switched out their usual gear for classroom music instruments to give “Enter Sandman” a run through, while Hetfield belts out lyrics.

It wouldn’t be the first time “Enter Sandman” has got an instrumental change. For those of you who remember the legendary Windows Songsmith program that matches up vocals with “suitable” backing tracks, you might recall this beauty.
