Michael Stipe of R.E.M Is Ready to Return to Music

Maybe it's not the end of the world, after all...

It’s been five years since R.E.M parted ways, but on November 18, the band will release their 25th anniversary reissue of the 1991 hit album Out of Time, and with it, comes some very exciting news.

Since the American rock group disbanded in 2011, former frontman, Michael Stipe, has hardly performed live, but he told New York Times in a recent interview, “I’m not ready to go completely into pop stardom again, as a 56-year-old,” he said, but “I want to work in music again.”

The musician cites David Bowie tribute shows he was a part of last spring as the thing that sparked his desire to return.

The Out of Time reissue features demos, music videos and a rare live acoustic recording.
