Toronto-based The Russian Futurists (a.k.a Matt Hart) have been making music for a long time now. 2002′s highly acclaimed Let’s Get Ready to Crumble was at the forefront of a surge of indie synth-pop that was making noise on influential music sites, including Pitchfork who effusively praised the album and had it on their best of year list.

“Cochineal Red” is the first new music since 2010′s The Weight’s On The Wheels. The band partnered with Junior Boys frontman Jeremy Greenspan for the single – a catchy and danceable synth-pop track.
