New Toronto Parks Will Offer Wi-Fi

Toronto streetscape project introducing Internet to City parks

Two new parkettes that will offer free Wi-Fi are scheduled to open later this year on Queen West.

The small parks, which are set to open in the Fall, will offer public high-speed wireless internet. Other amenities will include benches and new trees. The parks will be less than 1000 square feet in size.

The Internet plan is part of a bigger project initiated by Toronto and the Queen West Business Improvement Area (BIA).

“By incorporating the Wi-Fi into the public space we are inviting people to think of the street as part of their living room,” said chair of the BIA Shamez Amlani.

Both parks are opening in the Fall between Queen Street at Denison Avenue to Ryerson Avenue, where the Wi-Fi is planned to span from.
