What was going to be part of NXNE’s incredible week of shows is no more: Paper Bag Records had no choice but to cancel the Block Party scheduled to go down this Saturday near Trinity Bellwoods.
The show was part of the label’s #PAPER100 — a celebration of its one hundredth release. With a lineup including Army Girls, Lobby, Young Rival, and Grey Lands, this was sure to be an unforgettable show. Unfortunately, we’ll have to forget it.
According to the event’s Facebook page, the organizers did everything they could, but ultimately couldn’t secure the proper permits from the city who “pulled the plug” on the concert. “Seems there is still a long way to go…” before Toronto becomes a “Music City.” Read the whole statement below:
Fortunately, Paper Bag is still putting on their night of live music at Lee’s Palace on June 18th, featuring PS I Love You, Nils Edenloff of Rural Alberta Advantage, and members of Sam Roberts Band.
