You may know her as silent inmate Norma Romano on Orange Is the New Black, but her past is far from silent. According to various media outlets such as Aux, Annie Golden is a former front woman for a 70s punk band called The Shirts.
The band, based in New York, formed in 1975 and had close affiliation to CBGB, according to Aux. The band released three albums together before calling it quits, but reunited in 2001 and remain together without Annie’s vocals.
Following the band’s separation, Golden set out on a solo project, and was even featured on the Sixteen Candles soundtrack for “Hang Up the Phone.”
Orange Is the New Black has a habit of giving its audience a sneak peek into the Litchfield inmates’ pasts, so it’s definitely interesting to see Norma’s real life past.
