Polaris Prize 2015 Short List Announced: Alvvays, Tobias Jesso Jr., Caribou + More

The 2015 short list is stacked with Torontonians

It’s been a few weeks since the Polaris Music Prize announced this year’s long list of nominees, and it’s now been cut down from 40 to 10. It’s hard to know how the jurors were able to narrow down such an amazing selection of albums, but they did.

Check out this year’s short list of Canadian acts up for the prize:

▪ Alvvays – Alvvays
▪ BADBADNOTGOOD and Ghostface Killah- Sour Soul
▪ Braids – Deep In The Iris
▪ Caribou – Our Love
▪ Jennifer Castle – Pink City
▪ Drake – If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late
▪ Tobias Jesso Jr. – Goon
▪ The New Pornographers – Brill Bruisers
▪ Buffy Sainte-Marie – Power in The Blood
▪ Viet Cong – Viet Cong

This year’s Polaris Music Prize winner will receive a whopping $50,000, up from last year’s $30,000 prize — the bump is thanks to the sponsorship of Polaris from Slaight Music. The other 9 runners-up on the short list will also receive $3,000 each.

The winner is set to be announced September 21st.
