Polaris Prize Announces 2016 Short List

Here are your 2016 nominees!

Each year, the prestigious Polaris Prize awards one artist with the Canadian Album of the Year title and a $50,000 prize.

The award is given to the most deserving artist and is judged “solely on artistic merit, without consideration of genre or record sales.” All nominees will be awarded $3000 from Slaight Music. Previous winners include Buffy Sainte-Marie (2015), Feist (2012), Arcade Fire (2011) and Caribou (2008).

This will be the third nomination for Basia Bulat, the second for Grimes, Black Mountain and Jessy Lanza. It is the first nomination for all other nominees.
