Pussy Riot Will Lead 2015’s Pride Parade

The Russian feminists will join Cyndi Lauper, John Waters and more

According to blogTO, Pussy Riot, the Russian feminist collective, has announced that they will lead this year’s Toronto Pride Parade on June 28.

The band received wide-spread media attention when members were jailed after an anti-Putin performance.

BlogTo says it’s not clear yet whether the whole group will perform, but Nadezhda (Nadia) Tolokonnikova and Maria (Masha) Alyokhina will definitely grace the Yonge-Dundas stage in some capacity to celebrate the Pride Parade.

Pussy Riot joins filmmaker John Waters, Cyndi Lauper, musician (and Sonny and Cher’s child) Chaz Bono, United Nations champion Celina Jaitly, David Furnish, and the parade’s first youth ambassador – 14 year old social media star Brendan Jordan – as a part of the bill.
