Over their long career, Radiohead have been known for innovative album releases that include cryptic promotion campaigns. In the past they have leveraged the internet to hype a new release with unique and creative content. Anyone who remembers their Kid A period will recall their abstract and interactive short videos that made up their web presence.
As speculation around the release of their ninth album continues, it looks like Radiohead are going the other direction…for now anyway. Earlier today, the band’s website disappeared and is now completely white. The content of their social media channels has also been deleted and the profile pictures are also now white.
Apparently the band also mailed out leaflets this week with the words “Sing a song of sixpence that goes/ Burn the Witch/ We know where you live,” with a Radiohead logo. Are these the lead off track names for the forthcoming record? We hope so!
