Reading Rainbow is on Netflix & New Episodes to Come

Everyone’s favourite childhood educational show is now streaming

“Take a look, it’s in a book…” or on your TV screen: Reading Rainbow is now on Netflix. As of August 1st, Volume 1 of the series’ 21-season run is available for streaming.

LeVar Burton — the friendly face of your childhood — hosted the show for 26 years, beginning back in 1983 and finally going off the air in 2009. But Daytime Emmy-award winning Burton has been hard at work, trying to bring back the Rainbow.

Last year, Burton started a Kickstarter campaign to fund the production of new episodes. He had a goal of $1 million, and he reached it — within a day. Looks like millennials are ready to hear this theme song again:

Burton’s always been passionate about using technology as a tool for education. Since television lacks the interactivity that’s so crucial for learning, the new episodes will be more engaging, and will interact with mobile devices, gaming consoles, and more.
