Sam Smith Calls His Oscars Performance “The Worst Moment of My Life”

No one's perfect

Sam Smith’s Oscars performance of “Writing’s On The Wall” received mixed reviews from viewers at home.

Smith described his performance of the Spectre song as the “worst moment of my life” while speaking to the BBC.

Smith criticized his performance saying, “Singing was horrible. I hated every minute.”

Despite Smith was pretty hard on himself, he still went on to win an Oscar alongside co-writer Jimmy Napes for Best Original Song. Beating artists such as The Weeknd and Lady Gaga, Smith commented “I genuinely didn’t think we were going to win at all. We’re in complete shock. The whole thing’s just amazing.”

Backstage after his Oscar performance Smith jokingly commented on his career saying, “It’s only downhill from here… I’m going to retire, I’m done with music!”
