South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have always teetered the edge of the genius status, never afraid to take a joke to the farthest points to prove a point.

It’s not all that surprising that when asked to attend a very public public event like the Oscars, they challenged the status quo of the Hollywood elite and made quite the display. When Trey Parker was nominated alongside Marc Shaiman in 1999 for “Blame Canada,” a musical number from their South Park: Bigger Longer & Uncut movie, since he didn’t have a date to the Oscars he thought it’d be best if he brought his writing partner Matt Stone.
