Steve Aoki Sued For Breaking A Woman’s Neck At A Show

The DJ will head to trial this summer for the 2012 incident

DJ Steve Aoki will find himself in court this summer over an incident that happened at a show in San Diego’s Hard Rock Hotel in 2012. During Aoki’s performance, he allegedly jumped 20 feet from the rafters and onto an inflatable raft, when he landed on audience member Brittany Hickman and fractured her neck.

“I was trapped underneath the pool raft because they threw it out right where i was standing. My friends told me he landed on top of the pool raft, hit me on top of the head and I got knocked over,” she told ABC10.

A few days after the show, she was still in pain and went for a CAT scan, where she found out she had broken her neck and could’ve been paralyzed. She found herself in the hospital for three days, and couldn’t work for 2 months.

Brittany Hickman is suing both Steve Aoki and the Hard Rock Hotel, with the trial slated to begin August 28th.

Steve Aoki’s lawyers respond with a statement, saying: “I would never want anyone to get hurt at any of my shows and feel badly that someone has, but at this time I have been advised by my attorneys to not speak about this as it’s going to trial. Thank you for your understanding.”
