The Midway State’s singer-songwriter and Juno-nominated frontman Nathan John Ferraro (“Nate J”) released his debut solo effort, Patchwork Blue, Friday via Marquis Label Services.
Patchwork Blue was produced by Ferraro, The Midway State guitarist Mike Wise, and Max Roach. Ferarro and Wise polished up their production skills while taking some time off from The Midway State and eventually found themselves working with the likes of Serena Ryder and Young Empires.
Ferraro has described his approach to music as an overlapping of the senses, where he sees distinct colours when hearing sounds.
“Every song that really resonates with me comes coupled with a distinct colour palette. This record is called Patchwork Blue because it isn’t the one perfect colour I intended. It’s a patchwork, like a quilt made of pieces of blue cloth. In the end, I think it ended up more beautiful because of it.”
