Tallboy App Helps Trinity Bellwoods Drinkers Avoid Police

Never get caught with a drinking ticket again

Enjoy the finer things in life like drinking in public parks? Most Torontonians do as well, and some local app developers have decided to help preserve that fun in the sun.

Tallboy, a straightforward app for iOS and Android is designed to alert it’s users of the presence of police officers in the park. Users can tap on a map, alerting other users exactly where a patrolling police officer is.

“Tallboy is an app that is specifically geared to people who frequent parks in Toronto. Using the app you can communicate reports of ‘people’ that may interrupt or deter you from enjoying an ice cold beverage,”

Currently the app only works within Trinity Bellwoods Park, which is one of Toronto’s most frequented parks. However the developers are working on expanding the app to cover more parks within the city.

Since public drinking is just a by-law, Toronto Police Constable Victor Kwong finds nothing to be illegal about the app. Though “Our officers will continue to patrol and respond to community complaints, and continue to use discretion during enforcement of the by-laws.” He said.

Happy summer, friends!
