The Most Memorable Moments From All Six Seasons of ‘Girls’

From the funniest, to the saddest, to the most cringe-worthy

Whether you love it, hate it — or just love to hate it — there’s no denying that Lena Dunham has brought to life some of the most uncomfortable moments in television. Now that the series has wrapped up its sixth and final season, we’re taking a look back and ranking its most memorable moments.

11. SEASON TWO – EPISODE FOUR: “WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ABOUT RAY?”

In the aftermath of her failed marriage, Jessa crashes Hannah’s bathtub serenade to Oasis’ “Wonderwall” and has a breakdown — then famously blows a snot rocket in the tub.

10. SEASON SIX — EPISODE FOUR: “PAINFUL EVACUATION”

Not only do we find out Hannah is pregnant in this episode, we are hit with a double when the news is delivered by Joshua, the fancy doctor she spent an entire episode having an affair with back in season two.

9. SEASON FIVE — EPISODE 7: ”HELLO KITTY”

That moment when Hannah catches on to Adam and Jessa’s budding relationship simply by watching the way Jessa is staring at Adam. We’ll leave it painfully sitting here at number eight.

8. SEASON ONE — EPISODE THREE: “ALL ADVENTUROUS WOMEN DO”

After accusing her college boyfriend (Elijah) of giving her HPV, she finds out he is gay and spends the night feeling sorry for herself. Marnie later comes home to Hannah dancing on her own to Robyn and joins in.

7. SEASON FIVE — EPISODE SIX: “THE PANIC IN CENTRAL PARK”

Marnie runs into Charlie, spends a romantic evening with him and is prepared to start over — until she wakes up to discover needles on the floor of his rundown apartment. It’s the only time you ever truly feel bad for her.

6. SEASON TWO — EPISODE NINE: “ON ALL FOURS”

This list of memories wouldn’t make sense without cringe-worthy performances from Marnie. Like that time she sang her version of “Stronger” at one of Charlie’s office parties …

5. SEASON THREE — EPISODE THREE: “SHE SAID OK”

… or her incredibly awkward cover of “What I Am.”

4. SEASON THREE — EPISODE SEVEN: “BEACH HOUSE”

This episode deserves several nods including Elijah and Hannah’s reunion, the series’ first choreographed dance number, and Hannah walking around in only a bikini for the majority of the episode. But of course, it’s the girls’ verbal attacks on one another that lands itself at number three.

3. SEASON SIX — EPISODE 9: “GOODBYE TOUR”

Speaking of attacks, nothing could be more memorable than Shoshanna’s impromptu engagement party, and the bathroom scene where the ‘girls’ come to terms with the fact that their friendship is no longer serving them. The episode closes out with Banks’ “Crowded Places” as we watch the four non-friends slow dance alone, while watching Hannah leave New York for her new job.

2. SEASON ONE — EPISODE SEVEN: “WELCOME TO BUSHWICK A.K.A. THE CRACKCIDENT”

Witnessing Shoshanna accidently smoke crack is up there as not only one of the most memorable, but also the funniest.

1 . SEASON TWO — EPISODE THREE: “BAD FRIEND”

At number one we have Hannah and Elijah’s cocaine binge of the century, the yellow mesh top we can never unsee — and that special moment when Hannah smacks her chest and proclaims, “It’s a Wednesday night baby and I’m alive!”

What are some of your favourite moments we may have missed from the series?
