The Strokes To Reveal New Music This Summer

Governors Ball organizers expose information during a reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything).

The team that organizes The Governors Ball Music Festival recently started a Reddit AMA in which they revealed that The Strokes could release some new music at the festival this year.

The organizers started a thread that boasted the festival will feature “80 acts, including Kanye West, The Strokes, The Killers, Beck, Robyn, M83, Death Cab for Cutie, Haim, Of Monsters and Men, Miike Snow, Chvrches, and more”.

A user commented on the thread question the team’s decision to bring back The Strokes. Their response?

“Hey! Not sure if you’ve been following reports or news about The Strokes, but they may or may not have some new music in the works for 2016. This would be their first batch of new tunes in, well, just about a half decade. Kind of a big deal. Also, they’ve played a total of 8 shows in North America in the last decade, so I’d say it’s a pretty big deal any time they hit the stage. Regarding question #2 – I regret not booking Rod Stewart. Would have been great.”

Looks like The Strokes will be revealing some new music for us at the festival. The band was also spotted recording music in studio from an Instagram post.

Governors Ball organizers also revealed there will be a David Bowie tribute during this year’s festival. You can read the full Governors Ball AMA here.

Governors Ball takes place on June 3rd – 5th at Randall’s Island Park in New York City.
