It seems that TTC fare collectors are soon to be a thing of the past as the Toronto Transit Commission is steadily moving towards more automated forms of payment like Presto. While fare collectors are going the way of the dodo, apparently riders won’t be totally without an option for actual human interaction. The plan is to hire customer service agents who would be “roaming” in an attempt to provide a level of service, not current offered by the fare collectors.
The change is expected to be put in place by the summer of 2017 and will hinge upon the commission’s ability to successfully garner widespread rider adoption of the new Presto program.
TTC’s Brad Ross said: “This is all about modernization…It’s about the customer being at the core of all that we do.”
What do you think of the change?
