Tom Cruise has confirmed that he will be reprising his role as Maverick in the sequel to the ’80s classic Top Gun.
Last year, Cruise mentioned on the Graham Norton Show that they were “discussing it…We’re trying to figure it out,” leading fans to speculate a possible reunion for the original film. The comment was followed by a tweet from Top Gun‘s producer Jerry Bruckheimer, saying that him and Cruise were about to “discuss a little Top Gun 2.”

Recently, during Australia’s Sunrise on 7 Cruise did officially confirm that Top Gun 2 is a real and happening thing. “It’s true. It’s true,” he said. “I’m going to start filming it probably in the next year. I know. It’s happening. It is definitely happening […] you’re the first people that I’ve said this to.”
