Around the world, YouTube has six spaces where people can create #content. And, last week’s VidCon online video convention in California brought Toronto some exciting news: We will join Mumbai as the newest city to get a YouTube Space.
Essentially, a YouTube Space gives YouTubers a place to produce videos, attend workshops and programs, and work to put their content online. The location of the space or when it will open have not yet been released.
Lauren Riihimaki, Evan Fong, and Lilly Singh are all Toronto YouTubers who have over a million followers. Riihimaki says that the new space has the potential to help bring the YouTube community in the city closer together, and maybe keep them from the usual hubs for aspiring bloggers, actors, and the like – places like Los Angeles.
The YouTube Spaces that already exist have produced over 10,000 videos that generate over a billion likes as of March, said spokeswoman Jennifer Kaiser.
