Toronto Police Using a Hearse to Catch Distracted Drivers

Grave danger

Toronto police have added another creative measure to their efforts to crack down on distracted drivers. Officers enlisted a hearse to nab three drivers for using mobile devices while behind the wheel on Tuesday as part of their “That Text Or Call Could End It All” campaign.

While using a hearse to catch drivers certainly qualifies as a sneaky tactic, Toronto police admit there’s some symbolism behind the effort as well.

“The hearse, I think—everyone can articulate what a hearse really means. And I think it leaves a bit more of a lasting impression,” police spokesperson Clint Stibbe said.

So keep an eye out for the reaper’s ride.
