Toronto to Host 2017 Invictus Games, Prince Harry Announces

Toronto's Pan Am venues to be used

Invictus is not only a poem by William Earnest Henley, but a movement that captures the unconquered determination of men and women around the world that serve for their country.

The Invictus Games is an international sporting event that hosts wounded, injured and sick Servicemen and women. Prince Harry is the founder of the games and recently announced that Toronto will be the host in 2017. Watch the announcement in the player above.

The aim of this event is to, “Support rehabilitation, and generate a wider understanding and respect for those who serve their country.” The idea for the Invictus Games came from Prince Harry’s 2013 attendance at the Warrior Games in the U.S.

Event CEO Michael Burns told the Toronto Star that the venues built for the 2015 Pan Am Games will be used for the Invictus Games. The organizers will also be looking for Toronto-based volunteers.
