Toronto’s Best Mocktails

The finest non-alcoholic drinks the city has to offer

Whether you’re the designated driver for the night or you don’t drink, going out with friends can be hard.

Luckily we live in a city that is more than accommodating for those who like to partake in sipping fine cocktails, with or without the alcohol, that is. So next time you and your pals want to celebrate over drinks, suggest a bar that happens to serve up some of these great non-alcoholic cocktails.

Shameful Tiki Room

Drink: Designated Driver

The Shameful Tiki bar is by far one of Toronto’s most fun bars. This kitschy spot in Parkdale serves up tropical eats and drinks. They happen to make a mean mocktail, the aptly named “Designated Driver” is a blend of lime cinnamon, orange and pineapple, bitters and soda.

Maple Leaf Tavern

Drink: Fruit Cup

Get your daily dose of vitamins at one of Toronto’s oldest taverns, Maple Leaf Tavern with their “Fruit Cup” mocktail. A little different from the Dole cups your mom used to pack in your lunch, this virgin cocktail comes with fresh pineapple, orange, lime, pressed ginger, maldon salt, club soda and freshly shaved nutmeg.

d | bar

Drink: Not Normal

If you’re feeling really fancy, or if you deserve a well mixed drink after a tough week, head to d | bar in the Four Seasons in Yorkville. If you can get past its snide name, “not normal,” you’ll be enjoying a spirited drink made with pear juice, cinnamon syrup, ginger beer and rosemary.

The Drake

Drink: Wanderlust

At some point during the summer, chances are you’ll end up at the Drake. Whether it’s for brunch, lunch, dinner or drinks on their scenic rooftop patio, make sure you try their virgin cocktail that’ll make you want to pack your bags and head out into the wilderness. The “Wanderlust” is mixed with grapefruit, cucumber, mint, raspberry, lemon and seltzer water.

The Good Son

Drink: Garden State

The Good Son is one of the west end’s best cocktail bars, not only for its drinks but its gorgeous interior. Basically every drink on their menu is worth trying, and for those non-alcoholic drinkers, try one of their Temperance cocktails. We suggest the “Garden State” Kiwi Cordial, Rhubarb, Citrus and Ginger Beer.

Sidecar

Drink: Sparkling Lemonade

A good drink doesn’t have to be complicated. Why not enjoy a refreshing sparking lemonade when the heat gets real. Made from three simple ingredients: Lemon, sugar and soda.

Ki

Drink: Full Harvest

Surprising or not, one of the cities best mocktails comes from Ki, a modern Japanese bar in the Wellington Tower on Bay st. They’ve got a couple great non-alcoholic drinks to choose from, but the standout is the “Full Harvest” made of muddles blueberries, ginger, apple cider.
